Langos – Hungarian Fry Bread

I actually want tv last week (besides football) and saw a show on burgers that featured a place in Brooklyn called Korzo’s.  They had a very interesting deep-fried burger that I was dying to replicate.  It was a grilled burger wrapped in a dough called Lango and fried with pickles and mustard.

I didn’t get to taste the Lango it since I’m not eating refined carbs but I’m told it was kinda like a fried Pillsbury biscuit.  Here’s the recipe for the Lango the fried burger is to follow.  I’m sure I’ll come back to tweak the recipe once I’ve tasted it.

3 cups Flour

1 cup Water (110-115F)

1 Tbsp Sugar

1 tsp Salt

2 1/4 tsp Dry Active Yeast

Add yeast to warm water with sugar and allow to bloom for 5 minutes.  Add to a mixer stand with paddle attachment.  Slowly 2 cups of flour and after 2 minutes change to hook attachment and add remaining flour.  Knead for 3 minutes and transfer to a well oiled bowl.  Allow to rise for 1 hour to double volume.  Roll out till about 1/8″ and cut out.  Center should be thinner than sides.  Flip and brown each side.  Sprinkled with sugar or rub garlic with sour cream to serve.
