Strawberry Serrano Bread

The labels on our chili garden have all fallen and we’re guess what we’re picking.  I think they were Serrano but they could have been small jalapenos.  Used forgotten strawberries in the back of the fridge that were too ripe for anything else.

1 cup Butter

12 oz Cream Cheese

2 1/2 cups Sugar

3 Eggs

1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

1 cup Sour Cream

2 pounds Strawberries, sliced

6 Jalapenos

4 1/2 cups +4 Tbsp. Flour

3/4 tsp Baking Powder

3/4 tsp Baking Soda

1 1/2 cups Pecans, chopped

1.  Wash, hull and slice strawberries.  Slice peppers and toss both with 4 tbsp of flour.

2.  Cream sugar, butter and cream cheese.  Add eggs individually till well incorporated.  Add vanilla and salt.  In a separate bowl mix flour, baking soda and baking powder.

3.  Alternate flour and sour cream to the wet batter.  Fold strawberries and peppers, do not over mix.

4.  Line and grease 4 loaf pans and preheat oven 350F.  Pour evenly and bake 50-60 minutes till toothpick comes clean.
